Sleep Apnoea and Snoring Treatment
Snoring and disrupted sleep can affect both quality of sleep and overall daily function. In some cases, snoring may be associated with obstructive sleep apnoea, a condition where breathing repeatedly pauses or becomes restricted during sleep. Left unmanaged, sleep apnoea may contribute to fatigue and other health concerns.
At our McMahons Point dental clinic, we provide dental assessments and treatment options for selected patients experiencing snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea. Management may include custom oral appliances and collaboration with medical practitioners or sleep specialists where appropriate. Treatment recommendations are based on each patient’s individual needs and diagnosis.
What Is Sleep Apnoea?
Obstructive sleep apnoea is a sleep-related breathing condition that occurs when the airway becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep. This may reduce airflow and interrupt normal breathing patterns throughout the night.

Snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnoea, although not everyone who snores has sleep apnoea. A proper assessment is important to determine the underlying cause of symptoms.
Common Symptoms of Sleep Apnoea
Patients with sleep apnoea or problematic snoring may experience symptoms such as:
- Loud or persistent snoring
- Interrupted breathing during sleep
- Excessive daytime tiredness
- Morning headaches
- Poor sleep quality
- Difficulty concentrating
- Waking with a dry mouth or sore throat
Symptoms can vary between individuals and further investigation may be required before treatment is recommended.
