At McMahons Point Dental, we want every visit to feel as relaxed, supportive and straightforward as possible. Whether you’re a new patient or returning for ongoing care, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
Your First Appointment
Your first visit is all about getting to know you—not just your teeth. You’ll be welcomed by our friendly front desk team, who will help you settle in and answer any initial questions.
You will typically see the dentist at your first appointment. We’ll begin with a conversation about your dental history, any concerns you may have and what you’d like to achieve with your oral health. A thorough examination will then be carried out, which may include digital x-rays or scans if required. In many cases, a professional clean can also be completed during this visit.
Before any treatment is recommended, we will clearly explain your options, including the benefits, risks and expected outcomes. This allows you to make informed decisions about your care at your own pace.
Support for Anxious Patients
We understand that dental anxiety is very real and can stem from many different experiences—including fear of discomfort, loss of control or past negative visits. Our team takes the time to listen and work with you to create a plan that feels manageable.
You’ll never be rushed. We encourage open communication, and you’re always in control during your appointment. Simple adjustments—like taking breaks, agreeing on hand signals or even holding the suction yourself—can make a meaningful difference to your comfort.
We also offer sedation options, including nitrous oxide and IV sedation, where appropriate. These options will always be discussed thoroughly so you can decide what feels right for you.
Meet Chloe, Our Therapy Dog
A very special part of our practice is Chloe, our much-loved therapy dog. Chloe has a natural ability to sense when patients are feeling anxious and often provides comfort simply by being present.
For those who would like it, Chloe may sit beside you or even on your lap during your appointment, acting as a calming distraction. Many patients find her presence reassuring, and she has become an important part of how we support nervous visitors.
Comfort-Focused Environment
We’ve designed our practice to feel calm and welcoming. We offer a range of comfort amenities, including:
- TVs in treatment rooms with entertainment options
- Noise-cancelling headphones
- Pillows and weighted blankets
- Calming scents throughout the practice
- Stress balls for relaxation
- A play area for children
Our goal is to create an environment where you can feel comfortable and cared for.
Technology and Convenience
We use modern dental technology, such as digital x-rays, CBCT imaging, intraoral cameras and digital impressions, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Your records are securely stored in a digital system for convenience and continuity of care.
We also offer a range of payment options, including EFTPOS, HICAPS, TYRO, Denticare and Afterpay, to help make your visit as seamless as possible.
